Primary Electroplating Applications

Unlike acidic copper sulfate baths, copper pyrophosphate requires a complexing agent (typically potassium pyrophosphate) to dissolve in water and facilitate the plating process.

• Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs): Pyrophosphate baths are highly favored in electronics manufacturing due to their exceptional "throwing power." This ensures uniform, defect-free copper plating deep inside the microscopic through-holes and vias of circuit boards.
• Plating on Plastics & Zinc: It functions as an excellent strike or undercoat. It applies a smooth, dense, and highly ductile copper layer onto plastics and zinc die-castings without the aggressive chemical attack typical of highly acidic baths.
• Cyanide Replacement: It provides a much safer, environmentally compliant alternative to highly toxic copper cyanide baths, while still yielding fine-grained, structurally sound metallic deposits.
